Depends on what model and what state. From 1969 NSW had to have disc for V8, and from HG they were standard on V8.

I seen a HK Premier wagon, factory V8 with drums on the front, was surprised to learn they were fitted like this. Owner said something about because it had air or power steer can't remember which one, it couldn't be fitted with disc. Don't know how true that is.

In early HK, you couldn't order both a/cond & disc brakes together on the 307. You either had discs & no a/cond or a/cond but only drum brakes. It was because the V8's a/cond compressor fouled the brake master cylinder in front of the relay lever booster.

By the time the GTS & Brougham were released this became a serious issue. There were various attempts at altering the brake pipe plumbing to overcome the problem, but eventually they went to the direct pushrod type booster.

AFAIK it wasn't until HG that GM-H finally made disc brakes std for V8s, in all states.

I remember seeing a pre Monaro release HK 337 that was very original and heavily optioned (5 litre, auto, discs, air and steer plus lots of other bling). Like Dr Terry says it had a funny master cyl on it with a front hose entry. I can't remember the booster though. I think the car was a late May - early June 1968 build by Ben's estimate.

Sounds about right Terry, the HK 307 prem with drums had air and steer and was early 68 model. Bit of a stuff up there by GMH by the sounds of it.
So this all explains why the change in the booster setup on HK's?
