Hello, can someone give me some feedback, just recently, my v6 1995 Statesman, just cuts out at when driving the engine light comes on , I wait 3 min the al is fine , it keeps doing this, I have serviced and changed fuel pump and filter, any suggestions will be appreciated.

It doesn't sound like a fuel problem.
My money would be on either the DFI module or the crank angle sensor. Both moderately cheap to replace.

Definitely crank sensor or ignition module.
If it's a V6, pour water down the front of the motor (aiming behind the main pulley) and if it starts quicker than 3 minutes wait, then it's definitely the crank sensor, which is the more common failure on the V6.
If it's a V8, try the same water trick on the alloy module behind the air filter box (these are the more common failure on V8s).
When they go flakey, it's usually heat-soak that shows up the problem. Waiting 3 minutes allows it to cool a bit, and come good. The thermal shock from the cold water normally kicks them back into life sooner if they are on their way out, and helps pinpoint the issue. |
