Try adjusting the fuel mixture screw a little to give a slightly richer mixture (if yours is adjustable some are sealed and can't be moved!). If not then retard the timing a little to see if that helps. Otherwise you may need the dizzy reset to reduce the

One thing, I thought the mixture screw only adjusted the idle mixture and it doesnt ping at idle only on acceleration, also is it a big job to get the dizzy reset and where would you get it done? a specialist place or would any mechanic

Hi Todd,

I have a similar setup to you... 202, 2" extractors, stock stromberg carby, and electronic ignition. I had the engine rebuilt some time ago, but left the stock carby and electronic ignition as it was... it was pinging badly.

Finally took

Try Dynotuning places, carby and ignition specialists. Most general mechanics don't do it thse days. Beware, many places these days can be dodgy. The most important factor when you take it to them is to have the fuel tank full of the type of petrol that y

Hi Todd,

I do still have the machine. It ws pretty easy to build actually, about a day. The main difference between me doing my own an a dynotuning place is that I did it by trial and error and was lucky to get it first go. I plotted the advance curve

Hi Todd,

Yeah, mine was involved because it had the wrong springs etc in it to start with. I had to recurve a pollution dizzy to match my pre-pollution motor. Your dizzy may be much simpler.

My manual has the specs for a 202 red motor, 253 and 308 V8's 350 V8 etc and is the HQ factory multi-volume manual - pre pollution. The factory curve is only good for a near stock motor and you would be lucky if it worked even then with the fuel nowadays.

Hi Guys.

What Paul E is saying is correct. It's one thing to recurve the dissy it's another thing to get it suit your needs. It's also very labour intensive.

There is no factory manual for HX or HZ but I can get you the stock specs. These are no goo
