Just picked up an LC that has still got the original drums on the front and was wondering about options for a disc brake front end. Appart fron the original solid disc can you use the vented disc and caliper set up from an LH/X ? and is there a differance in the stub axels at all or are the drum stubs the same as disc ? I know the wheel cylinders need to be changed in the rear as does the Master cylinder is the any thing else to be changed ? Any other brake option ? Also how hard is it to fit a stearing colum from a commodore it it? All sugestions and pointers welcome.

Disc and drum stubs are different as the drum stub has no caliper mount. LH/LX/UC/VC/VH discs aren't vented except for the L34 and A9X which are HQ pattern anyway (VC-VH 4cyl are the same disc as LH-UC). Why don't you copy the XU-1 and use HG discs and ca Edited by user Wednesday, 23 November 2005 3:45:42 AM(UTC)

OK Byron I like your idea but the stub axels still are a little unclear, as they need replacing to accomodate the caliper can I use the stub axels from either the HG of LH/X torana or do I have to track down LC/J stubs? Ow and can the brake boster be used |

The LJ XU-1 booster is the same thing as a HT-HG one. Not sure if the operating rod is the same, but the casing is. Find an XU-1 and have a look at how it mounts.
As for stubs, the LJ disc brake stubs list as a different part number to the LH/LX ones f |

If the LC LJ drum stubs are the same as LH, then I would recomment you use LH -UC disc brake setup. I know that us EH guys cant use Torana stubs due to different 'kingpin inclination angle' so it would be advisable that you do use Torans disc stubs to kee |

I not too long ago i sold my XU-1 Torana. I went to the local brake place to get LH front brakes fitted. i was told not to do it. LH are a bigger pad and thicker disc but only single piston. the XU-1 has 2 pistons. After staying with the standard brake wh

I have VL commodore disks on My LC GTR. They are from an ex Police pursuit v8 vl. I just used a CRS kit. Mailed them torana drum brake stub axles which they machined and sent back with a bracket to attach the calipers. The kit fits perfectly other than
