Hey guys as most of you know my PV has a 327 chev the motor is due to come out for a rebuild , can anyone give me their thoughts on the best suited internals for that motor ie pistons ,rings , bearings rods ect ,, cheers

Is it a genuine 4"bore block? Not a 307 bored out etc. Is it still std bore(4") or has it been previously bored out?

If you are able to bore it .030"oversize safely, I would build a 383 out of it. Use 400 crank and rods and 350 forged pistons.

Hi Sandman

I was looking at the specs of your engine and was wondering if you have any problems with it running hot?

The reason I ask is that I bought a 350 for the HQ Monaro and it has always run hot and most of the time will boil at low speed, if

if its a soughtafter casting, sell your 327 as a runner.
buy a 350 4 bolt vortec long, with better heads than any early casting for $2880.

hey guys , motor is 60thou , fulie heads , small cam , a/m manifold extractors ,holley ect ... I know its on its last bore , hence the question about the best stuff too use ,, cheers

ditch the block for a 350 chev bare block if it's 60thou over, they are about as cheap as a 308 block, there are a couple on ebay. Get an Eagle stroker crank (383) about $350 from most speed shops. pistons to suit, etc, you should get change for $1000 exc

The old Cast chev blocks are virtually worthless these days, - $100. a 308 block would probably be worth more.

HQ sandman, you still haven't given us the casting number of the block, i sold a 60 thou 327 AUS for $2K over 5 years ago!.

i dont think you can beat the 383 i just mentioned on value for money. Especially since all the ancilliaries are interchangeable. If your worried about cost, then the stroker is the way to go.

i don't think you can beat the 383 i just mentioned on value for money. Especially since all the ancilliaries are interchangeable. If your worried about cost, then the stroker is the way to go.

STroker kits are for large journal, - i assume.
which, its a fairly good chance it is a small journal. 1962-67
Large journal 68-69.
But, it did have a Saginaw behind it, so he may be extra lucky,

I would like too keep the 327 in it just too be a bit different , and yes it has a saginaw behind it , ??? i will get theese casting numbers and see what you guys can tell me from there ,, the main reason I want too stay with the motor is because its been
