When fitting a VP SS engine to a HX can you run any turbo pattern tranny/gearbox like the VN V8 engine or will there be ECU problems? Dan |

VN and VP engines are basically the same, so you can run any box you want. Just need the in-line speed sensor from Kalmaker that outputs 2 pulses per rev for the ECU and cruise control. When you get the engine make sure you get the cruise control bits as |

Yeah, VN & VP are fine.
Its VR onwards autos that suffer the ECU issues with gearbox swaps.

I've never taken notice of what the WB-VK cruise stalk/switches looked like. I'm in the middle of fitting the VN cruise module,VS module cable(shorter) and brake switches, but thinking what stalk/switch to use? I fitted the HZ column and stalk to my HJ

There is no cruise stalk on a WB. Just a button on the pot. They do fit straight on. If you look at the schematics for VN-VP cruise it's just buttons ie activate, up & down. SO if you use the WB activate switch you just need two more buttons on the dash Edited by user Saturday, 12 July 2008 10:13:08 PM(UTC)

The VC/VH/VK/WB cruise switch is no good with VN cruise. I'm actually going through this at the moment with a VN 5L/T5 into a VB.
VN cruise needs on/off (latching action) as well as the +/- (momentary action) buttons.
VR onwards achieve a latching |

Why don't you use the factory HJ headlight dipper switch on the floor for the latching on/off switch and Magna paddle for the up/down?
