Off to pick up 2 x 283's tommorrow.

ex 1960 belair and a 61 El camino.

as luck would have it, i have "lent" my chevy book out to someone and i need to know if these had the early engine mount bosses?

i think that the early mounts were from 1955-58???

the 61 camino motor comes with a 3 speed box attached. any ideas what this would be. synchro? or non synchro?

Tuning for Holley carbs in Perth? PM me.

They will be side mount engines. The 3spd might be a 3spd Saginaw or 3spd T10.

cheers for that.
got them home and the 3 sp is a saginaw hanging off a 283 with powerpakies
this one them has a 4GC Rochester - anyone got an opinion on these?

the second motor has a 61-66 casting 283 block, with 60-67 casting heads that say 1.72 / 1.5 valves off the casting numbers website. this motor has the symbol at the the front just like a powerpak, except without the little triangle on top.(SO THESE JUST HAVE A LARGE RECTANGLE ONLY)
would these heads still be regarded as powerpak?

A 61 Chevrolet 3-speed manual gearbox is a Saginaw with synchro on 2nd & 3rd only.

One point though. To my knowledge there where no El Caminos built in 1961, 62 or 63.

i didn't look at the tags on the el Camino, but the front end looked just like a 1960-61 Belair..
the motor out of it is a date coded 1960 or thereabouts.
