Thank you so much HK1837 for your reply. I'm currently running a 205 wide tire (205/70/R14) on a 7" (178mm) wide rim. Going to an 8" rim (203mm) will not change anything as the tire is still 2 mm wider than the rim. |

Gents, I started a new thread on the wheel design - I'd like to have your opinion. http://www.fastlane.com....opic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28365
Cheers! |

Track changes QLD: "The track of a car or car derivative may be increased by up to 26mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model of vehicle. Off-road passenger vehicles fitted with front and rear beam axles, may have an increase in track up to 50mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model of vehicle."

Gent's I've had some more time today to look into this.
QUEENSLAND RULES: - No limits on rim diameter, only wheel overall diameter - For a car or car derivative, the maximum tyre width is more than 1.3 times larger than the vehicle manufacturers widest optional tyre width. - Tyre overall diameter must not exceed +15mm or -26mm than the standard tyre for vehicle model -> Optional original tire and wheel sizes on HQ 1 Tonner/Ute: org. tyres section aspect overall max. dia min. dia max.section for HQ Ute width [mm] ratio diameter (+15mm) (-26mm) width (x1.3) [mm] 185SR14 (82) 185 0.82 26.0" (659mm) 26.5" (674mm) 24.9" 240 195SR14 (82) 195 0.82 26.6" (675mm) 27.2" (690mm) 254 F78S14 (78) 201 0.78 27.1" (688mm) 27.7" (703mm) 261 --> wheel diameter for a HQ 1 Tonner in QLD can be 24.9-27.7" --> max. section width can be 260 -> Tire "BF Goodrich Radial T/A" (Raised White Letters) tire overall recommended width difference with size diameter rim width suggested rim width 255/60R15 27.1" 7-9" 77-26 (52 with 8" rim) 215/70R15 26.9" 5.5-7" 75-37 (25 with 7.5" rim) illegal sizes: 275/60R15 28.0" 7.5-9.5" 85-34 (21 with 10" rim) 295/50R15 26.6" 8-10" 92-41 - The original manufacturers front and rear track measurements for a car or car derivative is increased by more than 26 mm -> HQ wheels have a standard offset of 13-16.5mm, the track per side can only increase by 26/2=13mm, so we have minimum offset of 0mm. - The tyre width of the narrowest tyre fitted to a vehicle is less than 70 percent of the width of the largest tyre fitted
So the final choice would be: front: 15x7.5" with 0mm offset (for tire BFG R/T 215/70R15) rear: 15x9" with 0mm offset (for tire BFG R/T 255/60R15)
Does anyone see any issues with the QLD rules? Anyway, I'm moving back to South Africa taking car with me.. |
