I believe a 4777-2 Holley is a 650 DP.
Not a bad carby, but what's wrong with a Quadrajet.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

hi simonbee .. i guess it depends on your application but you might find with the Holley 650 that your engine may be a little under carburetted and possibly not happy without a bootful on the throttle most of the time...
...went down this road as a young bloke with my own GTS350 and quickly changed back to the 780 CFM that was on the car when i bought it...
...the Quadrajet was rated at about 750 CFM for the 350's and are still a very good carby to consider....cheers mate

But a quadrajet airvalve that dampens then sudden opening of the secondaries where as a double pumper doesnt, thus when selecting a carb for any given engine a double pumper should be smaller than an airvalve or vacume secondary equipped carb.
Is the manifold drilled for squarebore, spreadbore or both.

...thats pretty much the guts of it Simmo .. the Holley 780 on my own car is a single pump, vacuum secondary...set up for the TH 400 and was/is a good and proper fit, whereby the double pump mechanical secondaries were always a better fit for a big cube HP manual...
...pretty sure this arrangement on mine is set upon a spread bore inlet manifold...(factory HQ GTS350)
