Hi Guys.

Now here's a topic that might have legs.

These are engine option codes, not compliance codes, but now I'm splitting hairs. One of the problems is that this type of numbering wasn't introduced until the HK series, so there won't be an 'L' code for the 179 X2. From memory the 179 X2 was option no. 578 in the HD series.

The 186S was L66. As wbute has said a 253 V8 will be L32 or L36 depending on the era. There is also L33 which was the low comp 253 V8 in HQ/HJ etc.

John , you should purchase my book, it has every one of these codes listed for each relevant model series.

L34 isn't just a 308. It is also the code for a 327 in HK (like when 327 was applied to a GTS or a Premier). It was re-used again in LH as it was a vacant code. L30 is 307 in HK and HT, got re-used for 350 in HQ as again it was vacant. I've never been aboe to figure out the low compression 308 code, I hav assumed it is L35 but probably not right.

Hi Byron.

To my knowledge the lo-comp 308 (prefix BV) in Bedfords was L43. I got it of an old Bedford parts catalogue.

Cool, I couldn't find it in my catalogues. I've got a bandaged finger at the moment, hence my atrocious typing!
