179HP Block- What model did it come in

What model did the 179HP block come out in, in Holden engine codes it says 186k is a 186HP block is this correct?

179 with HP on it were EH only. The HP casting was replaced by 179 late in EH from memory. I think these have engine numbers starting with M.
No such thing as a 186 with HP on the side, they are all 186 cast. 186K is either an X2 or a 186S engine, there is a breakpoint number in the parts catalogues that tells you which it is eitehr side of that number. |
