I'll answer this one myself in case a future person is wondering the same thing.
The holes are there in manufacturing and are usually filled with seam sealer or equivalent.

This is the clearest image I've been able to find. It's the two small holes on either side of the tunnel, not the large holes that would have blanking plates put over them.  Edited by user Wednesday, 29 May 2024 7:11:24 PM(UTC)

They used to punch those through those low point channels so when the bodies in white were sitting outside waiting to enter the body plant paint area water could run out. If you look at HK-HG they are there too. Not all body plants did it though from memory, I know Pagewood did. I think they also did double duty allowing the body dip to run out when the body was dipped. |

Bare metal bodies went through a shower of hot water and phosphoric acid known as phosphating to etch and prep the metal. All of that had to drain out.
Then onto the drier, then they were dipped and that also had to drain out.
I think mine had 8 or more holes filled with black mastic.
