My understanding is HT GTS has the adjustable tacho redline & HG GTS does not. Is there any plant to plant variances or dates that mandated the deletion of the adjustable needle?
A friend of mine has a very original HT GTS V8 auto without the extra needle, could this be factory correct? Thanks in advance

Yes that correct, HT Adjustable telltale needle only. HG doesn’t have it.

As a general rule that is the difference HT vHG. My HT is June 1970 and has no adjustable needle.

The tachometer is dated May 70 so I am certain that it is original to the car too.

Is your friends a late HT?

I don't recall (and I have no pics either) my HT GTS 350 manual having an adjustable tacho redline
(and no idea when it was built)

I think its 4th month 70. Which plant was your car built at?

Might be difficult if the dash in the car, but with a mirror and torch you can pick up the date code off the back of the tacho. That will give you a 100% answer to whether it is original

It won’t be assembly plant specific. Almost all parts came from the same source and shipped to the assembly plants according to the schedule. I’ve never figured out why and thus when the change occurred.

If it’s different suppliers it might just be a change in supply contract.
