Hi All When the HQ came out it had an A key with a square head for doors and ignition and a B key with a round head for boot and glove box. Can anyone tell me if GM-H persisted with this arrangement for later H series cars such as the HZ or did they revert back to a one key arrangement as per earlier models? I’m asking because I recently bought a new A and B key from Rare Spares for my HQ and the A works fine for the doors and ignition, but the B key does not fit the boot lock at all. I’ve tried an A key and this does work in my lock, so I’m thinking at some stage the boot lock has been replaced and in later models the one type of key fits all of the car’s locks. Would this be correct?

I think it was HX maybe when they changed to common locks all around. Looks to be added to the HX Engineering Specs in May 1976, not sure if HJ changed at this time either. Set and Slam door locks were added to HX from August 1976 production. |

Ah, thanks for your reply. It looks like mine has had the boot lock changed some time after 1976 and this explains why it is using the same type of key as the ignition!
