went to see a ht monaro to buy the other day
the complinace plate had HT 46514M 6-70
But the firewall had stamped HT 48514M , they did not match
the car looks like the engine has never been out of the car
would this be a typo mistake when stamping the car ?
is this common , should these number match ....

Yes they should match, and it's unlikely for someone to get that many digits right when doing a body swap so unless you've read it wrong it must be a mistake. I'd check it again though as the die for the 8 stamp did wear out in Pagewood as i've seen heaps

ok has there ever been cars that have had a numbers stamped wrong
from the factory typo .....

yes there was a HQ statesman with a build date of 2-1984, stamped into the complience plate, for sale some time ago on ebay...

I have a HQ Coupe that has a stamped firewall that doesn't match. I can assure you the body I.D tag has never been removed from the car yet the plate has 45 -S and the firewall has 29 - S.
What is the firewall stamp anyway? I was told it has no referenc

the firewall is stamped 8 but the tag says 6
i would lean towards a typo on this from factory
being m dandenong they stamped on digit wrong

Ok Byron, what if I told you that my HQ coupe, on very thorough inspection doesnt have a chassis number on either chassis rail and definitely nothing near the steering box, nor does it have an ADR plate fitted. This one was intended for export.

byron where should the numbers be on a hq gts monaro
i have seen on the rhs chassis rail , but did all of them have
numbers stamped on the firewall , meaning 2 times or was it one
of the 2 positions you mentoined in your post , is this what they cal

my hq has not no numbers on the firewall it has on the rhs rail
that matches the body plate number , unless i have not looked well
enough i will invistigate and get back to you obviously the vin tells you wher the car was built in this case Pagewood .
