Hi I just purchased a HK its been sitting in the shed for about 24yrs and in pretty good nic ? the compliance and body numbers match but how do I verify the engine number, should they be the same as one of the compliance plates. |

HK won't have a comliance plate and BODY and VIN plates never match in HK.

Ok thanks, so the engine numbers state what year they were produced that makes them compatable |

No, engine numbers are sequential. The way to work out if the engine is close to right is to compare it to known matching numbers cars (by log books). There are no tag or body numbers anywhere on a HK that tell you when it was built. The way to pick them |

Thanks a lot for the info, what would be your advice on the engine I was thinking I will put a turbo 6 in or should I just go straight to a V8. With the 6 I can leave all the running gear and still have a little power but nothing over the hill. I can send

Send me the ID plate details and ill tell you all there is to know about it. A V8 will be cheaper and easier also.

Her are the numbers I have off the vehicle, Im new to this I dont know how to attach the pictures. Body HK89737-106-A / Trim 1152-18 Y / Paint 568-1285. 80737KL116695 stamp on firewall HK 34926 A. Thanks vry much appreciated if you would like a pic I can |

568-1285 is Picardy Red (what a shock, just kidding) 18Y is Buckskin. The VIN, Firewall and Body Nos are for an Adelaide car. Is your car 2 tone? James

No the car is just red with bonnet boot stripes and stripes along the lower Rh/Lh side. |

18Y is Parchment and black trim. Everything else appears to be in order, but will check further.

A 307 and TH350 will go in without damaging the originality of the car ie fit without cutting holes. Make sure you keep the original running gear complete so it can be changed back. Use a HT/G trimatic shifter for the TH350. You can also use a Chev powerg |

The cheapest way out is probably a 9". Just get one made with Holden brakes on the end. Have a think about whether you want to keep the HK brakes or swap to HQ-WB. The diff will be able to be done in either. HQ-WB discs and calipers are a bolt on at the f |
