Im at the paint stage with my HK and we're discussing what sort of finish I want. Most if not all concours quality cars are denibbed to the point of being perfectly dead flat like glass, I'd call it a show-car finish but it far from how they were back in 1968. Heres a photo of the factory paint on my old door its not something I would want to replicate but I'm thinking a perfectly flat glass like finish is probably not the look I want either. Interested to hear your thoughts. Wayne

That looks a bit "rough" to me. About half way between that and flat would look better. Acrylic sprays pretty flat if done right and I doubt if they were sanded after painting back then not like today when everything has to be perfect.

Acrylic done in the GMH plants apart from the black outs and black stripes and I think the gold and silver accents on Broughams was oven cured acrylic rather than air dried, so it does look a bit different to what you'll achieve today using air dried and cut back. |

I guess they were they buffed before the stripes went on?

Must have, all blackouts and stripes across most series were the same except for the gold stripes in HT. |
