Vc commodore radiator removal? V8 auto?

remove temp sensor harness (if fitted.. some have a temp sensor for A/C in a side tank)
remove auto trans lines from side tank
remove top and bottom radiator hoses (note - bottom can be removed at pump outlet if you cannot get the clamp off the hose at the radiator).. beware coolant will go everywhere when the bottom hose is removed
remove top radiator shroud (on top rad panel) .. lever out retainers
remove overflow tube (from where it connects at the side of the top where the cap is (note cap does NOT need removing)
remove 2 side clips (sitting in front panel retainers) by pressing down and levering out
pull radiator straight up (note the side rubber vibration blocks might be a bit stuck.. just jiggle sideways if so)
done ...

To get to the auto trans lines, do I remove the grill or can I get to them once I’ve removed the top panel?

neither
from the passenger side... look behind the headligh at the radiator, you can see the auto trans fluid pipes coming from under the car and up to the radiator

they are shown here .. on the passenger side tank above the bottom hose connector

here is an aftermarket rad for VB-VK V8s and you can see more clearly the 2 pipe connectors

this one also has a temp sensor boss under the top rad hose connector on the drivers side

Ok, I’ll have to check that out. I’m not near the car at the moment but would I be right in saying that they would be more accessible once the fan shroud is removed?

yes...
and the shroud may/may not have to come off to get the rad out
(no biggie as the factory shrouds need 2 screws undone at the top)

no .. not really, it is just an upside down sort of W clip
but
how I do it, is to depress one side (either side... ) with a screwdriver and then put another screwdriver thru the middle (the sticking up bit) of the clip and twist
that will pull one end of the clip out of the retainer housing (that the rubber mount is in)

and once one end is out, tilt the clip and pull the other end out

Clips look like this
