Hi. I'm trying to sort out how the choke works on the 69 Monaro 308 carby. Should there be a vacuum hose (or other?) connected to the choke or is it a bimetallic system. And can anyone tell me what carby it is? Thanks.

It a Rochester Quadrajet. The exhaust manifold on that side has a pipe through it and there is an insulated pipe that runs to where the arrow is pointing to. The other end runs up to the air cleaner so it is clean air. I'll edit this post and attach some images of my HJ, same engine.

Note you can buy the pipes aftermarket in stainless ready to go with insulation. That is what is on those images of my Premier.

Thank you to member HK1837 for a description of the heating system of the TetraJet choke system. I've decided to replace the exhaust-heated mechanism with the electrically-heated unit. Now I'm wondering how to shut off the vacuum from the carb used to suck heated air in the pipe passing the exhaust pipes? Has anyone does this conversion before?

The vacuum source is under the carby, just above the smaller hole, look in the first pho below. Mine had that choke operator removed and a dirty Holley on it, they'd jammed a lead ball into the hole, you can see the ball where I removed it in the first photo, sitting on the carby mount face. The larger hole is threaded, a bolt holds the choke operator on. Just remove the choke operator and plug the hole with a lead ball or even a bit of Araldite or similar epoxy.
